Professional Milestones

Projects, accomplishments, and moments that have brought me particular joy.

  • Currently supporting the design, launch and dissemination efforts for World Health Organization Abortion care guideline, where the goal is to enable evidence-based quality abortion care globally.

  • Led the communications strategy and execution on behalf of DoE to support the launch 10 Billion Bulbs — a multinational, public-private partnership aiming to have 10bn super-efficient light bulbs fitted worldwide to tackle the 5% of global emissions caused by lighting.

  • Designed the identity, and provided event and communications support for the AIDS2020: 23rd International AIDS Conference (held virtually) — the fifth and most recent AIDS Conference I’ve had the privilege to help shape.

  • Worked with HC3 and USAID to develop a campaign dedicated to popularizing LARCs with youth. I lead the research, strategy, message development, testing and materials executions. The campaign was initially tested in Malawi and Nigeria, and has since been adapted in numerous other markets.

  • Developed Washington National Opera Giving Circles — an effort to cultivate major donors and expand the organization’s reach.

  • Co-founded and currently leading a communications collective (called Little Unicorns) with a multicultural team of 10 designers, developers and writers.

  • In partnership with National Abortion Federation, designed and executed the Stand with Servicewomen campaign, which ultimately provided servicewomen access to abortion care in cases of rape at the workplace. (As unbelievable as it may be, servicewomen’s insurance policies didn't cover such care before the Shaheen Amendment was passed.)

  • Established the digital practice at Fenton Communications’ DC office, which, in an 12-month period, generated more than $1 million in revenue; recruited staff of 2. Served as an interim managing director of Fenton’s DC office, focusing on team building (15 staff) and new business development.

  • Worked with The Kennedy Center to design and bring to life the 2014 Washington National Opera Ball at the Japanese Residence. This may not have been the greatest communications innovation, but it was absolutely fabulous, cool, and needed to support this beautiful art form.

  • Co-hosted the first-ever 2013 Green Inaugural Ball as part of a larger environmental portfolio of efforts. The event was designed to celebrate the administration’s focus on climate and was attended by then-VP, Joe Biden.

  • Managed the engagement strategy for the LIVE UNITED public service campaign. (An ad campaign worth $230 million in donated media to date—TV, radio, print, online, out-of-home.)

  • Established and managed the digital group at United Way Worldwide, the world’s largest private charity ($5.1 billion in annual giving). Responsible for $6 million in annual online grassroots donations, recruiting millions of individ- uals to social causes, and recruiting more than 400 thousand volunteers online. (Those were big numbers in 2010.)
